From zero to hero - a short poker tale

Back in September last year, a new poker player signed up with us. Very soon after his registration he won a couple dollars in his first freeroll and so he started a long run which leads him to making his first grand in online poker!

We are very happy to congratulate him on his good poker play. Also we had some questions for him which you will find interesting if you want to start your poker career too.
Check out our interview:
  1. RC: Tell us something about yourself; How old are you? Where are you from? What do you do for a living?
L.: I am from portugal 36 years old and I am an IT technician.

  2. RC: You started with nothing and now you have nearly 1000 USD in your poker wallet. How does this feel?
L.: Feels very good, and also good to be recognised for it.

  3. RC: When did you start playing poker? How did you learn to play poker? And how many hours do you play poker per day/week?
L.: I started playing poker about 10 months ago and I saw the game on television, I play about 10 hours a week but plan to play more.

  4. RC: Out of 1 to 10 - whereby 10 is better - where would you rate your poker skills? Is there a skill you would want to improve?
L.: I would say a 7, and I would like to improve my ability to play looser, I think I am a too tight player.

  5. RC: Playing with patience - this is what most of the poker sites recommend. What would be your personal hint for new players?
L.: Yes patience is a huge part of poker, choosing which hands to play is half the way to winning at poker.

  6. RC: Cash Games, Tournaments or SitnGo's. What do you prefer?
L.: Tournaments, because I started with freerolls and had a lot of practise which is how I built my bankroll.

  7. RC: You have been playing on RaisingCards now for a long time. How do you like it? And what would you change or add?
L.: Well tournaments around 5-10 dollars are often cancelled, I would like to see more of them.

  8. RC: Is there anything else you want to tell us?
L.: I really enjoy your site, it is a good environment and has a very good quality of service besides good level of players.

RC: Thank you very much for the interview - we really appreciate your answers and your time. Of course will talk to our tournament director - I am sure we can do something to get your tournaments starting more often. We wish you the best luck for the future.

As you see: tight play pays! If you have your own poker tale - even if its one with a bad ending - or if you have your personal poker tips, tell us! We would be happy to receive any comments from you!

Good luck on the tables
